Time and time again, I love looking back at classic fashion ensembles by style icons of the yesteryear. My favourite fashion inspiration has got to be Jackie Kennedy Onassis or Jackie O. which most of you might know her by.
It’s funny to find a street style blogger enjoy the classic pieces of a more conservative era but to be honest, growing up, I really admired fashions front-runners like Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, Jean Patchett, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Tailor.
My mother has always been a huge influence when it came to my fashion flavour. She’d often dress me in the most beautiful dresses and two piece suits even though my heart was set on ripped jeans and converse sneakers.
Today, I merge my two loves, classic and street style with this Jackie O. inspired jacket paired with Puma sneakers and a rara-tulle skirt. I made this simplistic coat from a Japanese Wool Blend which makes it incredibly warm and comfortable to wear. Mila is obsessed with her new jacket and I intentionally shuffled the sleeves to give it a more casual look.
I’ve really enjoyed getting back into creating garments for her and my mom said that the jacket was beautifully made which is a huge relief. If there were any flaws she’d point them out immediately, nothing misses her hawk eyes!
Thank you mommy for instilling lookbooks of great women inside my style hippocampus and also giving me the freedom to express myself through fashion in a way that is true to who I am… unique, classy and edgy.
