Where to spend your next babymoon

Congratulations! You’ve just found out you’re pregnant, you’re filling your online cart, buying everything in sight and before you know it, you’re weeks away from your due date. Where has the time gone? It’s a question I often ask myself the older I get and even more so being a mom of a 6 year old. Think about it, you have 9 months to prepare yourself for a new life, what better way of rewarding yourself for getting your ducks in a row than with a well deserved break, a babymoon.

What is a babymoon you ask? Well, essentially it’s the final a trip you take with your significant other before baby arrives. (Also known as the last time in a very long time you’ll ever be alone again haha) I loved the idea of a baby moon so much, my husband and I went on 3! We enjoyed 3 nights at the Cape Grace hotel, a long weekend in Robertson at a B&B and then a weekend in a VIP suite at The Cullinan Hotel in Cape Town. Three is not the norm, but why not when you live in the most gorgeous country in the world.

Now that I’ve convinced you to take advantage of the time you have left, let me share my top 3 babymoon travel tips with you.

1. Catch Flights
Thinking of getting out of your city? I suggest you take a trip when you’re sitting pretty in the second trimester. Morning sickness is over and that pregnancy glow is shining bright. Check out Travelstart for domestic flight specials.

2. Location
No need to break the bank, local is very lekker, so why not book something that doesn’t break the bank or compromise on your needs via the affordable accommodation options on Travelstart.

3. Pack Wisely
Your preggy belly will look cute no matter what, don’t compromise your comfort for instagram. Pack comfortable shoes, swimwear, loungewear, a flowy dress, wide side hat, sunscreen, vitamins, pregnancy safe bug spray and craving specific snacks. Make sure that you’re catering for yourself to avoid disappointment. If your vehicle is not suited to your road trip and luggage requirements, then book one that is via Travelstarts car hire service.
